How I Built My Own Bio Filter For My Gray Water System

When we bought our home a few years back we knew that there was a problem with the plumbing, three drainage pipes from three kitchen sink were too small and would keep on greeting clogged.

Eventually I just had to drill a hole in the wall and let the water dragon into the garden.

The trees and flower bushes really loved it.

But it was a bit nasty.

Finally I put together this bio filter and it seems to work great.

Here is how I did it...

I cut a plastic barrel in half and drilled a drainage hole half way up one of the sides.

Then the bottom up to the drainage hole with wood chips inside a steel screen.

I feed the pipe from the sink through an older planter pot with more steel screen and some old astroterf for a filter.

Then I added some alovera and gravel.

Covered it up with stone to look nice and done.

Just some green thinking..
